Can Circumcision Prevent Urinary Tract Infections in Boys?

Many parents choose to circumcise their infants for religious reasons, but there are also several added health and hygienic benefits to circumcisions. One of these added health benefits is the strong correlation between circumcision and the prevention of urinary tract infections. Researchers compared the frequency of UTIs in circumcised and uncircumcised boys and found that “circumcision was associated with a significantly reduced risk of UTI.” Furthermore, the same researchers who did this study suggest circumcision for boys who are at risk for recurrent UTIs.
